Multi functional media center in Akihabara, Tokyo, including a manga and anime store, karaoke booths, library and event spaces. Instead of stacking up windowless booths into a solid volume, this proposal uses a central void as a vertical "media landscape" climbed by escalators, while the sloped surfaces serve as projection screens. The kinetic facade based on a transformation of the Japanese Asa no Ha pattern completes the proposal, in which the media center aspires to become media itself. Conceived in parallel with research on the symmetry groups of traditional Japanese patterns.
