The brief called for a passenger ferry terminal in two phases, in Suda, Creta island, Greece. It will have to be extended to its full capacity within a decade. We proposed an arching wooden roof, positing that in Creta's extremely mild climate the roof fulfills the most important protective functions while allowing fully flexible use of the space underneath, in anticipation fo the second phase. The design makes extensive use of standard industrial materials, such as plywood and cinder blocks, facilitating ease of construction and maintenance.
