A location based, augmented reality mobile game. PocketOULU was developed during the 5th UBISS [Urban Interactions Research Program] summer school in Oulu, Finland. We built-up the idea from concept level to a fully playable prototype: an urban puzzle where the user has to assemble the scrambled city back into a coherent whole. The game is location-specific, in that it takes place in the historical center of Oulu, and the game board functions as a GPS enabled map in real-time. We used Unity for the main game mechanics and Vuforia for the Augmented Reality mobile implementation.
